Dornier

Post by Charlie Bravo »

I've just been reading up on the Dornier 728 program and it's a real shame Dornier went under.
The company had orders worth over $3 billion but when they went under, most of the orders were cancelled.

I don't know the performance specs but I'm sure it would have been a good LCY candidate. It's a real sleek looking machine and look at the size of those flightdeck windows!

Lovely Jet...Just not so sure about those flight deck colours! :sicky:

There is an FS version about somewhere but I think it was fs2002 only, wasn't a bad model if I remember correctly.
Huge file though at 35Mb for the package.

Still, shame the real thing never made it, would hve been in service by now.
Does anynoe think the cockpit resembles that of the original 787 or 7E7 coclpit concepts?

Cheers,
Andy M.

Something about that nose reminds me of the Comet.

TBH I remember at the time of the cancellation I wasn't suprised

I wondered how anyone would want to buy such an ugly, clumsy looking jet.

Funny thing Mark is while I was posting you replied and it is of interest how you compare it to a sort of Comet look.

I have always found the Comet nose by far to be the ugliest nose on any jet.

I much prefer the liveries it wore where the cockpit windows were covered lick BEA/BOAC etc.

It is the nose of the Dornier 728 I find looks clumsy.............also though the tail does as well.

It's only my opinion though.

I've just realised it looks like one of my own Jet designs I made a few months ago.

Jonesey I have to agree....I Personally find the so called 'E Jets' quite ugly!
The nose of the Embraer just doesn't look right to me, but as long as it works I suppose im happy.

Cheers,
Andy M.
