The dogs ten commandments....

Post by DanKH »

Taken from a Danish site for animal welfare and roughly translated:

1. My life lasts 10 - 15 years. Any separation from you is painful.
Remember that when you buy me.

2. Give me time to understand, what you want from me.

3. Believe in me - it is important for my well-being.

4. Don't be angry with me for a long time. Don't lock me up as punishment. You have your job, your activities and your friends - I only have you.

5. Talk to me. Even if I don't understand the words, I still understand your voice.

6. You shall know, that I remember how you have treated me.

7. Remember, before you hit me - my teeth can easily bite through your hand, but I choose not to.

8. Before you yell at me for not being co-operative and lazy - ask yourself, if something bothers me. Maybe my food is wrong, I have had a rough day or my heart is getting old and weak.

9. Take care of me when I get old. You will get old too one day.

10. Be together with my through hard times and follow me on my last trip.
Never say "I can't stand to look at..." or "I'm tired of you" - Everything is much easier when you are together with me. Remember that I love you.

And to finish it of a nice little poem:

When God had made the earth and sky,
the flowers and the trees,
He then made all the animals
the fish, the birds, and bees
And when at last He'd finished
not one was quite the same.
He said "I'll walk this world of mine
and give each one a name."
And so He travelled far and wide
and everywhere He went,
A little creature followed Him
until its strength was spent.
When all were named upon the Earth
and in the Sky and Sea,
The little creature said, "Dear Lord,
there's no name left for me."
Kindly the Father said to him
"I've left you to the end.
I've turned my own name back to front
and called you DOG, my friend".

I just love that Dan.We had a dog many years ago who we loved dearly.I would suggest that much of your post would also apply to a family cat.We have one who is now 15,so very affectionate and whose passing we dread.TBH I think I think I prefer most animals to many people. They have no pre-conceived animosity,no devious intent and always respond to love and affection. Is this relevant to flightsim? .It is in my mind because as soon as our pet cat (Muffin) hears my PC he settles down on the bed at the side of me and stays there until I switch it off.Magic moments which I will always treasure. If you've never had a pet it is perhaps difficult to understand the bond which occurs.Anyway'nuff said.ATB EricT

True indeed Eric..our 17 years old cat  lies beside my monitor under a lamp to keep warm. And as mentioned in the "holy hand grenade" thread we have a lot of animals. Always had and tomorrow we are going to maybe....include a new member to the herd....a Grand Danois...
