Higher ISO = higher amount of noise, on whatever camera. Some do suffer from noise a lot more than others though.

Always try to keep the ISO as low as possible. Sunny days are usually bright enough for you to use the lowest setting (which is 100 with Canons, I'm not sure about Nikons). Overcast days will usually mean having to up the ISO to about 200/400, and 800 if it's getting really dark. 1600 is just a no go. :tuttut:

Of course, the ISO setting should always be judged, rather than just thinking "it's cloudy, so ISO 200 it is". If you're wanting to use a high shutter speed, or very narrow aperture, you may need to up the ISO to get the right exposure, even on a bright day, and vice versa.

It came and it went according to reports - pretty misty first thing, but cloud had lifted by 1130.

Didn't come near where I live, so I didn't see it. Couldn't get the enthusiasm to go to EMA

Hi Ian

It was due to go to FIlton as well so there might be some that saw it down there.

I guess I'll start charging my D70s battery now.

I've not used my 70-300mm lens in this sort of situation before.. any tips?

Presumably you won't have to use a lot of the zoom on this subject Dan?

As I was not working today I decided to go to EGNX (only about 18 miles) to chance my luck on seeing it.Things were pretty busy around there, but found a good spot alongside a guy shooting video for RR.Had the airband radio with me so we knew what was happening.Airbus 401(callsign) took up a hold at Pigot then set up for low approach and go around on 09.It looked most impressive as it appeared out of the mist but the RR guy doing the video had found out that it was only painted white and not in Airbus house colours which would reduce the contrast with the sky. Also a helicopter chartered by RR for air to air shots over Derby etc.I believe that the aircraft may be spending a few days at Filton but not sure on this (the 380 not the helicopter!)ATB EricT
