Cera AS365 RN WIP

Post by DaveB »

Hi Chaps :hello:

After much pondering, I grabbed the Cera AS365 paint kit an hour ago and threw some RN grey at it  Not quite sure what embellishments I'm going to end up with so this is a 'first run' WIP to see where stuff goes. A couple of odd bits I'm not 100% with but looking at the same parts on other paints (including default) it's nothing I've done which is a relief. Good news is, unlike some lesser devs.. this PK opens just fine in PSE. I guess it could be argued it doesn't have the fine detail of some but you don't need CS98 to open it so I'm happy

Added a few more things last night. Still not sure about the RN titles. I'd like them on the boom really but that means splitting the text over 4 areas and not two:

Codes are off a Lynx Mk8 btw and I've made it 700 Sqn as they're the trials unit ;)

Where are the tissues? It's got something on its nose.
Oh, it's OK, it's "700 SQUADRON" :hide:

Hats off to you, Dave, you're pretty good with that paintbrush! :agree:

Now I know you've been drinking!

I agree.. the Dauphin's are not the prettiest helicopters to grace our skies are they. That odd hump look and slightly oversize vertical stabs. AS/Eurocopter have made some lovely looking aircraft but I guess there's always one runt

This one flies very well although the autopilot is less than reliable. Hope the real thing is better

Here ya go..

RN365

Managed to get rid of the dark shading on the nose and upper surfaces.. it was a layer marked 'Do not delete/old effect' 8) Added 700Sqn badges to the doors but otherwise, it looks as above ;)

Another one I've been fiddling with. It all seemed very easy in theory 8)

The AS365N1 and 2 seem very similar to the N3 and at a glance, I suppose they are. Just a big nose on the N3  The N3 however, has more bits and bobs attached to the underside and there are other subtle differences. Some could be to do with the panel lines on the model too as I can't imagine these would have changed a great deal. The panel lines DO line up which is cool but on ZJ164 for example.. (the real one).. the RN titles line up with the boom handles and the roundel lines up with the titles. On the model, I have the roundel lined up with the panel lines (as they are on the real thing) but the RN titles are lower than the boom handles when lined up with the roundel 8) Mucho frustrating :|

It doesn't look bad at a glance but it's not for the purists (well, it wouldn't be as it's the wrong type)

I've tightened up the RN titles and moved them to the boom..
