Air Anglia Chieftain

Hello lads, anyone know of an Air Anglia repaint of the Alabeo Navajo/Chieftain? Trying to fill in my Dad's engineering career at Norwich in FSX. Ironically there was far more for FS9, especially the F28, which was excellent. I've got the Just Flight F27, but that's where it stops. And while I'm on the subject, where's a top quality FSX Herald?

Swanoir , I know , I know it's fs2002 , works in '04 . Can't help with FSX ... NFN and the best that can be done by a Naarfick Boi who still has a rejection letter from AA . Used to hitch the Navajos LHR -NWI , using Big Bad Awys staff tickets . Great privilege 'specially if sitting up front , much better than driving a Trident ....................... .

Unzip the files into a temporary folder. Then simply drag and drop them into your FS2002 (or 2004) Aircraft folder. Sounds are aliased to the default Cessna, so there is no need to copy anything else. Everything is included in the file, so select your craft and go fly!

The model is by JR Lucariny, fully flyable with autopilot and ILS, and thanks again to him for allowing the repaints to be uploaded. I know this will fall on deaf ears, but please respect the author's rights to his work and copyrights as asserted by the Berne Convention and DO NOT UPLOAD OR MODIFY THE MODEL WITHOUT ASKING FIRST. Asking before uploading any repaints is not only polite and shows your appreciation for the work, but will usually result in permission being granted with goodwill and in friendship. Much better than ending up having a bull-and-cow* and having to remove the files because you've caused upset.

The panel is by a Navajo pilot from Alaska, Jim Welch, and replicates as far as FS will allow most of the features of the modern Navajo panel. It is fully IFR/ILS compatible for those commercial airline flights or if like me you prefer to use the (British invented) Autoland system to avoid you sticking the plane nose first into the ground. Again, please respect Jim's hard work and his willingness to share it for free with you by not making any changes or uploading the panel without his permission. If you want to contact Jim to discuss the panel, e-mail me on [email protected] and I'll pass it on. The panel is made freely available under copyright to Jim Welch.

I did a bit of electronic spray painting. All logos and logotypes are the copyright of their respective owners, although who owns the now defunct Air Anglia and Wessex brands would be an interesting argument.

Airline Notes
==========================================================================
This pack of four liveries contain authentic representations of Piper Navajo Chieftains that have flown in the UK on commuter airline or air taxi services over the past thirty years.

Air Anglia was a small airline based in Norwich, UK, flying DC3, Piper Navajo Chieftain, Fokker F27 and F28 aircraft during the 1970's up till it merged with British Island Airways and Air Westward to form Air UK in the 1980's(Air UK is now part of KLM-AirFrance. Or AirFrance-KLM if you are French). Norwich is located in the rural East Anglia region of the UK, and one way it managed to keep going was to use small aircraft to develop a route. If the route became popular, it would progress to the larger craft. The Piper Navajo Chieftain was ideal for this purpose, and became associated with a Norwich-Birmingham-Swansea-Newquay(RAF St Mawgan) service between 1976 and 1979. The Navajo Chieftains also were used on connecting shuttles from Norwich to Cambridge.

Wessex were an Exeter based air taxi service flying throughout Devon and Cornwall in the 1980's. Their Navajo Chieftain sported this very 60's colour scheme with the mythical Griffin on the tail. Wessex are no longer flying.

British Northwest bring the Navajo saga up to date and fly two examples out of Blackpool to the Isle of Man in competition with Keenair's Bandeirante operated service. Blackpool is a famous seaside resort in the North-West north of Manchester and has for many years been linked to the Isle of Man, mid way between the UK and Ireland and a semi-independant Crown Protectorate state. G-PMAX carries a registration which has a connection with the giant Pepsi Big Max roller-coaster ride located in the world famous Blackpool Pleasure Beach, although hopefully not replicating the g-forces and loops of the Max.

Finally, the latest Navajo airline service is the alpha1 Cambridge to Oxford service. This new airline has been started by an 18 year old Flight Sim enthusiast to provide the first link between the UK's two premier university cities since the 1930's. Alpha1's Navajos are operated by airMed, a specialist air taxi and medical transport outfit based at Oxford-Kidlington, and the service, with two return journeys each way daily, starts on April 18th 2005.

Interesting to think that the Piper Navajo is returning to Cambridge on scheduled airline service after nearly 30 years!

*Bull-and-Cow. For any non-UK simmers, this is a Cockney (Londoner) "Rhyming Slang" phrase for a row, as in "The two of them were shouting and having a right bull-and-cow". Who said Flight Simming was a mindless computer game?

Probably from fs.com , but cannnot remember ; it's on my fs 2004 rig . If you need it , let us know and if you can talk me through then I'll send .
