Combining the motor and pedal power threads, I was clearly never intended to have a motorbike.
Encouraged to get a car licence ASAP by a father who had ridden motorbikes (with and without sidecar) for many years. But a pedal bike was ok, and at the time even riding around the Heathrow locality was not too bad.
But now, there is no way that I would travel around this area by bike. Roads are too busy and the "country lanes" are too narrow to enjoy. Not sure how "thehappyotter" survives.

I'm glad you find it amusing, Dan. It makes me feel as though all the pain was not suffered in vain!
Worryingly, I also broke my nose falling off a bike when I was 10. I hope it's not something that's going to happen every 50 years
On the plus side, after 50 years of mostly breathing through one nostril, I've now cracked it fairly straight and can breathe much better! On the minus side, they've asked me to return my cycling proficiency certificate.
Coming off the bike is fine - encountering the effects of gravity can even be pleasurable but you see that last half inch before contact with mother earth.....
Well here’s mine, final got it out of the shed and dusted it off. It’s not as flash as some of the kit on display here but I’m really please with it and I especially like the name – ‘Vulcan’!!.
Weather permitting I hope to get out on it this weekend.
