Impatience does not pay.

Post by Nigel H-J »

Saw this some time ago on TV.

The guy had just bought the helicopter and was waiting for the instructor but became impatient!!

Hmmm..thanks Nigel

What I'd like to say is that the word 'twat' springs to mind...

..but as this is a public forum I won't say it.

In fact, if you study the AAIB monthly bulletins, you will find that this type of mishap is a fairly regular occurrence. Many Instructors in piston engined helicopters apparently tell their students to start and warm the engine while they finish their tea / lower the all up weight etc . A change in wind, particularly a freshening, can have unhappy results!

Since I've never been able to master the FS helicopters, let alone the real thing, I am not going to criticise the poor students!

That explains it!

I've seen this video a few times before but never with a description, always put it down to bad flying, but didn't know that the guy decided to skip lessons and have a go anyway.
