I think I read somewhere that they reckon the Spruce Goose only got off the water due to ground effect :lol:

Not heard that Jonesesy.... but I have herad that Hughes was supposed to have said it was barely flyable and perhaps it was ground effect keeping it aloft.

There is a lot about that aircraft we will never know.

The Spruce Goose still holds the record for the greatest wing span ever flown: 319' 11" or 97.51m, even though it only flew 1000 yards at 70 ft!
