Ah, thanks very much Andy. A further question if I may; would this self-shadowing capability allow shadows to be cast inside the cockpit by the canopy frames, and have them move around when turning ?
Re: Free IRIS T-6A Alpha Test/taster aircraft
I just had a quick look and I dont think the shaddowing was working in the VC. as you rotated (i was in a heli) you could tell it went from bright to dark and bright again as you, but I couldn't spot a shaddow from the canopy frame.

Impressive :o but I would have thought the far wing would have been in the sun.....seems to be in the shadow.
It the Sun was too low to be on the upper wing thne it would not be on the nearer wing

Hmmmm could be because the wing has a dihediral outer 3/4. Ive not seen that paint yet Andy!!! That looks wicked, better than the Grey/Red one

Thanks Chris, she's supposed to be a racing aircraft, like the P-51's etc out in the US.
Garry, looking again those pics do show some interesting lighting effects, especially on the one where the aircraft is almost level. Who knows.. its al ldonw to what FSX generates.

Hi Andy
Sorry mate..I didn't mean to imply it was the paints...it is the FS.X self shadowing I'm referring to. A fine step in the right direction but it does not look quite right  . The wing in the shadow of the fuse is the same as the other wing apart from the highlight area not in fuse shadow.
It could be that the shadow is either there or not with little or no degrees of shade.
Perhaps something for FS.XI

Could be my system partly, running FSX/SP1, on XP Pro, with a reasonable 512mb pci-e card. It does look like a shaddow or no shaddow effect.
