That makes sense and yet we don't hear of mega long range tankers..so I wonder if it is just something that is only done in extreme emergency. :think:

Would be relly emabarrasing to force land out of fuel with a plane load of the stuff :$ :brick:

I am sure (but probably totally wrong) that I read about this years ago with the Uncle Sam tankers. :dunno:

Doubtless of course is that there is little point sending a tanker up to burn it's market load, so no ultra long range.

I wonder if they can also top up their 'top up' tanks as they refuel as well as their own tanks (if you get what I mean!) :lol:

Don't know about Uncle Sam's.......It's the VC 10 I was specifically wondering about :)

Curiously, MrG's website gives the C1 as 7210 miles range - which is what I should manage with the super 10 if I dry up in mid-air. Lots of contradictory information out there!
