Well, at least that goes to prove that the BBMF is here to stay for the forseeable future.....I hope!!!!
I used to be an optimist but with age I am now a grumpy old pessimist.
Re: New BBMF contract
I think a small specialist company like John Romaine's, landing such a prestigious contract, is good news for the private warbird restoration scene. Good for Duxford too.

Re: New BBMF contract
It's not really news as such anyway. Ever since the restoration of the Hurricane was completed by Historic Flying Ltd all the BBMF fighters (IFAIK) have gone to area 51 at Duxford for majors (and repaints). ARCo/HFL use the same complex, so I doubt the actual people doing the work will be any different.Paul K wrote:I think a small specialist company like John Romaine's, landing such a prestigious contract, is good news for the private warbird restoration scene. Chipmunks I don't know - maybe Duxford as well, as ARCo/Prop Shop have done a lot of Chipmunks in the past. IIRC the Dak was done at Air Atlantique (as would make sense for a DC-3) as well as the Lanc which was overhauled there last winter.jab wrote:So who does the work for the BBMF chipmunks and there Dak?
