Skyways 'family'

Post by RAF_Quantum »

Hi,

Set of repaints for the default DC-3. Skyways of London/Skyways Coach Air, Skyways Cargo (Coach Air), Air Freight and Skyways Air Cargo. The history of these DC-3's are quite intertwined between these companies.

Skyways Coach Air Subsidiary of Skyways Ltd operating 'coach-air' services across the channel.

Skways Cargo. Still Skyways Coach Air but the DC-3's were withdrawn from passenger services after delivery of the third HS748.

Skyways Coach Air operation ceased in January 1971 following financial difficulties having been unable to secure further finance. A management buy-out saw the HS748's flying again in February 1971 but the DC-3's were not included in the purchase and they were transferred to Air Freight Ltd.

Air Freight Ltd. Formed to handle the freight operations of Skyways Coach Air at Lympne. The three Skyways Coach Air DC-3's were transferred to Air Freight Ltd in 1970 and were operated on behalf of Skyways cargo services in Skyways livery until the fleet was grounded in 1971 following Skyways financial difficulties. The ownership of the aircrafts were subsequently transferred fully to Air freight Ltd and were painted in Air freight livery.

Skyways Cargo Airline Ltd. In May 1975 a major re-organisation of the company resulted in the name change of Air Freight Ltd to Skyways Cargo Airline Ltd.

Yup.. ;-)

I don't care much for the odd green later scheme but the early pale blue has always been one of my favourites. Nice to see you managed to overcome the 'Nose Logo' ;-)

Wish you'd have chosen the Rapide to have a go at though :-(

;-)

Wonderful John

All we need now is a decent Lympne scenery and we're in business :)

Dave

I thought some time ago some one working on Lympne - I have the World War 2 diagrams for it but none of the post war stuff except some shots of the coach terminal
