FlyNET been hit??

Post by DaveB »

Hi Guy's,

Has anyone else had probs with FlyNET this evening?? I've had trouble getting in for the last 2hrs or more :o I can get as far as the login screen then get a 'Max number of users exceeded' sign  The number of flights active and booked doesn't look particularly excessive.

Any ideas John??

Hi Dave,

I have just managed to log in after a few attempts at 20:30 and have managed to book a flight, although everything does seem a little slow. I will now see if the client connects and lets me actually fly.

Hope you are now getting in too.

Cheers

Hi John,

Just tried again and still getting that max number of users message. Fingers crossed, it won't hit the client

Nowt to do with the site setup be fair, I think whoever is / was hosting turksim have realised that the site is being hammered by flynet which is probably in breach of "reasonable use" and put some quotas in place.

OK, maybe I'm a bit adapted to bigger sites, where putting restrictions on the connections is a dead-sin ...

I guess it's a reasonable thing to do with a smaller server setup....

Hi Dan,

A lot of ISP's offer unlimited bandwidth, or in some cases performance, but there is a reasonable use clause. Basicly this is usually if you use a lot of reasources for a while, we let it ride, but if it continues to the detriment of our other users we'll cap you. I've seen similar messages to this pefore on hosted platforms. Thats why its so expensive to run something like flynet. If every early paid an anual sub, it wouldn't be a problem, as they could buy a suitable package.
