Peter, I have only had a few problems with 3wire in disconnecting and I know this may sound silly but when I have clicked on the 3wire icon and the menu appears for connection, after hitting the button I just leave it in situ without minimizing.

Have not had any problems since. The only time it appears to disconnect is if the flight has been reset by FS or the launch aborted.

Hope this helps.

Nigel.

I wonder if Nigel's trick about not minimizing 3 wire is the secret? I won't have a chance to try it for a few days, unfortunately. Anyway, here's a couple of comments from the installation notes which might be useful if anybody has missed them.

3wire needs to be in either a 'ground state' or an 'air state' and this is changed automatically by a catapult launch or an arrested landing. So if you take off without using a catapult (or use another carrier) you will have to reset the 'state' by pressing F11 (as already stated). You then get a status message on the screen. If you don't, then 3wire has probably disconnected. Also, once a catapult is armed the launch can be aborted by releasing the brakes with the throttle at idle. In which case it would have to be re-armed (F9) and if you don't get a confirmation message, reset (F11) as well. I assume a bolter would still be considered 'air state' but you can always check with F11 on approach.

I too have the latest version of FSUIPC but I don't get any error messages. Mine is the pay version, perhaps the free one throws up a quick message? It seems strange that 3wire should work better with the American carrier collection (in my experience). Perhaps the Yanks are using some secret technology that they are not sharing with their allies? As if?

For what it's worth, I never minimise the window once I connect 3-wire - more through luck than decision I must say.

Well I don't minimise it...I just leave it visible on the second monitor.

I have improved the situation dramatically today by installing a more recent version of FSUIPC (version 3.7.5.0)...I have only had about two disconnects since I did this and the FSUIPC error message when first connecting, no longer appears...Did some more successful traps today but still a lot of bolters so I must keep practicing...I posted a sequence in the Gallery section :flying:

Can someone please post a complete idiot's blow-by-blow guide to installing and setting up the Ark Royal please???.

I've got the Skysim version with the installer exe and I just cant get it to play.

Each time I install it it seems to cock up my Fs9 and I can't select a country for toffees.
I went into the scenery library and move the add-on folder to No1 priority but it made no difference at all.
