OK guys....It's me 'ere again!!! :$ Just one little question before you all decide to run and hide. :worried:

Now I have AI working at Kai Tak I find that there are by far too many a/c waiting to take off and land, in one case I had two landing one behind the other and well...........just look for yourself!! :o

Don't laugh please.........this is embarrasing :$

Do I remove some of the VHHX codes in the flight plans when edited with Traffic Tools to lower the traffic?

For those brave enough to answer.... Thanks.

LOL its like the Paris Airshow........

I would love to help you but i have NO landing aircraft......

I think whats happened here is you loaded the package and i think you didn't remove or rename the backup.BGL.....So you have 2 competing with each other...?

I have my aircraft taking off lovely after renaming the .BGL but i also done something and my aircraft are still landing at Chep Lok even though i followed Peters instructions.....

Maybe if you sent me your .bgl and i will send you mine and we can compare them....?

What do you Think...?

If the duplicate bgl files is not the answer, you could always adjust the AI traffic percentage slider in FS. Alternativly you could edit the decompiled flightplans text file.

AC#37,NJDU02,50%,24Hr,IFR,12:19:52,17:46:07,320,F,0093,KSAN,19:49:52,01:16:07,330,F,0096,KJFK

In the above example, taken from the Traffic Tools documentation, you can see the third parameter is 50%. Change that to 99% and the AI flightplan will only appear if your FS AI traffic slider is set to full right. Change it to 75% for example, and it will only appear if the FS slider is set to 75% or higher. You could search the text file for the appropriate airport and adjust the % as you desire to reduce traffic. That way the flight is still in the flightplan file in case you want to change it back to increase traffic in the future.

Hope that helps!

Many thanks Nigelb. Have recently received a plan 'B' option and will be getting on with that tomorrow.

Thanks for the info and have printed that off for future reference.

Regards Nigel.

Hallo chaps. Still playing catch up with this incredible piece of software. It's just too good not to have some decent AI so I'm on a steep learning curve. I've been reading all the posts and am following Peter's advice of using World of AI packages. WoAI list 32 airlines as using Hong Kong so I've got a lot of installing and editing to do. So far I only have 7 but I seem to have successfully transferred everything from Chek Lap Kok.

But I have a question. Please tell me if there is a way of getting rid of the default aircraft from just this airport? Thanks.

Yes, there is Ian......

(Same way as you were moving the traffic from Chep Lak Kok)

This time it is just the default traffic bgl you have to decompile, edit and recompile....

Or you could completely remove the default traffic, by renaming the default traffic bgl to another extension...say .bak instead

Yes, there is a way using Traffic Tools again. Decompile the appropriate traffic .bgl files and look at the Aircraft file. Note the numbers of the default aircraft, i.e. AC#7,100,"Cessna Skylane 182S Paint3" a default aircraft. Your numbers maybe different of course. Next search the FlightPlans file for that particular number "AC#7" and the airport involved - whatever the ICAO code is for Chek Lap Kok.

Now you have a choice, you can delete the entire entry, or change the % parameter to 99%. Then the aircraft will only appear if you have the traffic slider set to 99% or higher. You may even be able to comment out the line (//), although I am not sure about that since when you recompile with traffic tools it may just ignore it. Anyway you should save the decompiled files both before and after you change them so you can always restore if things don't work out correctly.

This will be rather a tedious process, depending on how large the file is. There is a utility that makes doing all this a lot easier - AITM, but it has a bit of a learning curve and is a kludge of an FS2002 program. Still, if your going to be doing a lot of this sort of thing, it maybe worth the time to learn how to use it. You can find the program here, scroll down and get Version 2.

forgive me but it is a lot easier to decompile the trafficxxxxxx.blg (the default traffic file)

open the flightplanxxxx.txt and do a search and replace and thus replacing all VHHX entries with VHHH.

Save and recompile.

This way you have rerouted all the default traffic from Kai Tak to Chek Lap Kok instead..... just the exact opposite you did when you transferred all the WoAI from VHHH to VHHX...

No magic in that.

Dan, you have a good point, however I was unaware if the AI traffic was in one file or several. If the new AI traffic for Kai Tak is all in one unique file, I am thinking there shouldn't be any default aircraft there at all. I have several traffic files, and I must admit, finding a particular AI flight is a bit of a problem so if I wanted to eliminate a group of AI flights such as default aircraft, I proabably will have to look in several files. One day i will get organized
