so you got the idea of holding your altitude and your heading

here's how to program the GPS
to set a heading so you can easily keep on track

open the gps
press the direct to button (waypoint)
Image

turn the page using the mouse pad
Image

the screen will promt you to insert a location using the keyboard type egll (don't use the shift key to caps the IACO)
the GPS recognises them as ICAO's (ie. Heathrow EGLL)

press enter
Image

press page down on the mouse pad untill the ((activate?)) prompt is flashing

Press Enter again

and bob's your uncle

:) go fly :flying:

your a pretty smart guy , you'll figure it out after you program the waypoint
you'll see the airport on the map and you can zoom in and out
zoom right in and you'll see the airport altitude and radio info
plus a page that shows a list of freq.
nearest airports page
cool stuff
I don't use anything else really
It gets me where I'm going , every time, rain or shine

speaking of rain
The weather here is Very British right now
fog so thick I can't see down the block
and it's been rainning cats and dogs. :-(

anyways have a go..... press away at the buttons , you can't break it

Just got back to the thread and read Chris's Indy analogy

very very funny but in many cases far to true - A lear might make the turn - an MD80?? naw dont think so

Leif

How did it go Techy - Just got through flying a real time IFR weather approach into some far flung foreign field -- scary - the published procedure was to
fly inbound to the VOR at 7000feet QFE then descend rapidly and hang a sharp left to intercept the localizer - problem was the VOR is on a saddle back
between two peaks that go up to 11000feet and the whole bloody thing was clagged in - I chickened out went 25 miles out of my way flew around the
mountains snuck up a valley right under the cloud base and hung a left AND - ASV6 quit on me and it went severe clear

In the words of the Red Baron (according to Snoopy) Curses!!!! Foiled again.
