Dave Maltby FSX

Post by sammach »

I have installed Dave Maltby`s excellent VC 10 models and the Comet models in FSX, all the VC 10`s work as in FS2004 excellent,the Comet models work well, however every time I select the a Comet model in the FSX directory, a message appears as follows;
There are multiple objects of the same title name, they must have unique names ;

Then the message lists the models in question.
I have still managed to select the Comet and fly it, by closeing the message box, however this is tedious and as slowed my PC and I have to wait patiently until the Model of the Comet appears, I am prepared to do this as Dave Maltby`s models are, as we all know excellent.
I would be grateful however if someone could suggest a fix for this little niggle.
A quick word about Dave Maltby, he seems to be able to create exact models of his aircraft giving a realistic experience to flt sim without complicating his models so that you do not have study a manual for hours before you can even star t the engines, even a novice like me can get some idea of what it must have been like to fly these wonderful aircraft, and more, even I can make a successful autoland

It could sound like some of your AI traffic has the same title as your flyable Comets has. Each Title entry must be unique throughout the simfolders.

Thanks for answering my message Dan,
I don`t think the message is anything to do with A1 traffic I know absolutely nothing about that .I did say I was a novice.The message refers to the Comet DH106 4B and each message refers to the 4B BEA Airtours, Comet 4 BEA, Comet 4B Olympic Airlines, in other words all the repaints associated with the Comet 4B. Dave Maltby does say in his FAQ on his site page that the Comets will work in FSX with certain reservations, maybe this is what he meant.
If I have to live with this,so be it, I really like Dave Maltby`s products that I will put up with it. he also says in his FAQ he has no intention of making further models for flt sim , which is a pity, I would have liked him to have had a go at Concorde.
Thanks for your time and interest Dan.

Each and every aircraft must have a unique title in the aircraft.cfg. If you have two or more aircraft with the same title you'll get the kind of error you are seeing.
Have a look in your simobjects / airplanes folder open up the Comet folder(s). Open each aircraft.cfg in turn and see if any are the same.

Thanks DaveG for pointing me in the right direction, also thanks to Dankh for your input, but its my mistake when I copied and pasted the files in the FSX folder I duplicated the Comet 4B file, rather ( like yesterday when I duplicated this topic, my apologies for that as well ) I don`t suppose anyone will belive me but I had not been drinking, just a case of a silly old f---
I did learn something yesterday as I do every time I come onto this forum, I only hope I am not banned from raising future topics

Hi Sammach

Duplicating something by accident without realising you've done it is such an easy thing to do and not always easy to spot. :worried:

No worries we all do it. Glad you're sorted and thanks for reporting back as this sort of post can be very useful to others who read the forum and have similar issues. :)
