S! Gents

Living near EGPE in the Highlands of Scotland, and not far from Kinloss and Lossie, I have been a ScotFlight fan since it was first released - but - must confess to being more than a little disappointed in the screenshots.
At first sight the textures seem to take me back to FS98 / FS2K2

This looks very disappointing scenery both visually and in accuracy - and not up to the standard one would expect of ScotFlight .

Think I will be giving this a miss.

As an aside to the topic, I am running FS9 and I must say that Stevo's (UKMIL) Leuchars is simply - outstanding - a must have for anyone using FS9 - and as a Scotsman, the price is perfect - free :)

Hi

We are in the process of replacing our screenshots which unfortunately were done with a poorly performing graphics card and a bit rushed.

Here are a few retaken shots from Leuchars in FSX, the FS2004 version will not look any different.

I have read with interest the postings here and on some other forums on the quality of the scenery. For anyone who is familiar with previous Scotflight products I think they will find this new product is up to the standard of previous work. My band of testers, hardened simmers and long time Scotflight users, were certainly giving me that message.
I think Steve's rendition of Leuchars is superb. I know because I have installed it and viewed the results.
What saddens me a little here is that quite a lot of the members here and on other forums have very quickly condenmed a product without, I am guessing, actually viewing the product installed.
At the end of the day the user has the choice of whether they want to buy or not.
So far I can say that no one who has purchased the Scotflight product has made any claim that it is of poor quality and not worth the money. Anyone who is not happy can be assured that they will get their money back without question. That has always been the case with Scotflight.

I suspect some of the negative posts were based on the poor quality screenshots, those later shots are much better! People probably won't have installed it to see for themselves if they think the promo shots are naff.

As I pointed out earlier in the thread Iain I think a lot of the negativity comes from those screenshots. It's amazing how you judge a release based off first impressions and they really didn't give a good impression! It's good that they are being replaced now by some higher quality ones with anti-aliasing to get rid of the dreaded jaggies.

It's a funny old game. You could have the greatest product ever but skimp on how you present it in the advertising and it's all for nothing. :flying:

Steveo,

I understand your frustration. I remember the same thing when people bought another VC10 rather than DM's. HOWEVER, it is still personal choice. I choose Scotflight as I am familiar with their products and have always had an excellent level of support, but I chose it as CURRENTLY there is not an alternative for FSX.

Please also do not use this form to discuss the merits of payware / freeware. This is a heads up forum, and thats exactly how I'd like to keep it please.

Thanks,
Ben.:tunes:
