Think that is a great photo Dave as the heat haze brings the picture to life. :dancer:

Were it not too early in the day for you to be under the influence of alcohol Nigel.. I'd suspect you'd been drinking but thank you anyway ;-) The beauty of the digital age is that (for me anyway).. much of my film technique has gone and I just point and keep hitting the fire button. Every now and then, one or two pop up that I'm happy with (I wish it were more!!) but other than missing the moment to your satisfaction.. nothing else is lost. The camera is paid for and there's no developing to worry about so keep shooting away mate. It's costing you nothing and you're having fun while you're doing it

At the very least, you can say: "I took that...over MY house!"...Proof that a VC-10 did just that, on that day, captured forever! :)

Dave, your shot is great - the heat haze brings back memories of the long, hot summers we used to have.... :-(

Ah yes.. the 'S' word

Chris..
I was strolling over the common a couple of years back with my dad and the dogs when I heard jets in the distance. They live pretty close to the Lichfield Corridor and get a lot of military aircraft (at height) going east-west and t'other way round. It was a reasonably nice sky and in the distance.. I saw two biggish dots. Out came Mr Camera and I took a couple of shots. It looks like nothing really when you see it at screen size but zoom in and there were a couple of VC10's in formation. It's a complete 'nothing' shot but I was chuffed to bits. I think I posted that too at the time

Hi Nigel,

Nothing wrong with your photos!

They show a fair bit of detail, the light conditions was a big factor in the darkness.

I think that the serious photographers, sometime tend to concentrate too much on getting that "Perfect" shot, but, at the end of the day, does the perfect shot exist?

Dave,

I took a shot of a GR9 the other week, similar to your "Heat Haze" VC10 one, this is currently my desktop pic, clarity doesn't always mean interesting to me :)

Thanks Tonks, just wondered if it was you.

Again, many thanks to those who gave words of encouragement.
