Tks for letting me know the outcome Jonesey ;-) The darned thing was streaming every 40secs or so and I hung with it until 12.5mins when IT gave up. Glad it did really even though I was a little peeved at the time ;-)

"DirtDaubers" (A nice little wasp who uses mud to build nests) are the bane of pilots in the SouthEast US
Their favorite little holes to crawl into are pitot tubes and static ports - When I worked for SouthEast ALs in
St Petersburg they invaded a DC9-30 one night whie it sat on the hangar hardstand and blocked 8 of 12 static ports in
less that 8 hours

The company took to covering everything after that

Less than eight hours Dave - It arrived off a basketball charter late in the evening and the little buggers had worked all
night - I didnt even know they were noctural........Also had a carpenter bee invade an EPR probe on a MD80 resulting in an RTO
it was removed VERY Deceased.

Darn it.. I read your post again and you'd already said it had taken less than 8hrs :brick: Deary me.. this 'age' thing is starting to get the best of me (not that you'd notice I had any 'best' anyway) Seriously though.. that's not long for mother nature to disable an aircraft :o We had similar (though in no way so catastrophic) happen on 'Norfolk' when tied alongside in Cochin. Stuff floats in the water there that is best left unmentioned but one of natures finest is what can only be described as 'prolific' in that it almost completely ingested both our inlets and outlets in very short order. It looks like a 'lilly' but grows considerably faster.. the end result being that we had to send divers down daily to pull the stuff clear of the ship :o Boy.. did the divers earn their 'extras' on that trip or what!
