Yet another FS9 Texture Issue!

Post by buff »

Hi all,

I am unfortunately still bumping along with FS9, but am planning to upgrade to FSX in the near future.

Anyway, I have a texture issue, when flying at altitude (20,000 Upwards) distant ground textures appear un-rendered and of avey low quality even although i have "Extended Terrain Texture" ticked?? I have and this problem for a while now and it affects all parts of the globe in FS. The problem was still present after installing Nvidia 8600GT,Although FS9 was still showing this up with my old ATI Card. I have even completely re-installed FS9, but to no avail.

Could anyone help me???? :'(

Heres what im on about: (Sorry about the crap highlighting job!)

Thats normal mate. ;-)
The sim cant draw textures that far away (looks to me to be a good 60 miles away), plus you have the haze effect on there. Also extended terrain texture ain't what your looking for, its "draw distance" or whatever its called in FS9.

Somtimes worse that other times, but you can see it here with a square of detail ending

To be fair, from 20+ thousand feet, your not going to see much detail in the real world 100 miles away. ;-)

Hi Buff,

On your tool bar go to 'World, Weather, User defined weather, Customise weather...

Knock the 'Visibility' slider to the left and the problem will go away...as you won't be able to see it ;-)

Hi Buff, just a late suggestion for you, when flying the maximum vis I set is 40 miles, this generally solves any issues that you have found. Usually I fly with thirty miles vis and finds it suits me fine.

Nigel.
