Ooops thanks for the clarification Ben.

I am going with the Quad CPU, two drives and 600w PSU. It is still within my budget. Order will be placed later this week with delivery expected within 2 weeks.
I'll let you know how it goes.

Thanks for all your inputs.

Regards
John

Don't forget the 4GB of RAM ;-)

Good luck, hope it turns out as good as it sounds. ;-)

Friend of mine has just bought a system from PCSpecialists, and very nice it is too. Mind you, he's over done it a bit: quad core, 4 gb ram and a 1Gb video card in order to play....Civilization 3 !

Anyway, they seem a pretty professional outfit. :)

Well I ordered the PC, thanks to all for your inputs. It arrived OK and I have spent the time installing my software.

PCSpecialists were very good and kept me informed at all stages of build via email. It took longer to build and deliver than expected but that was OK for me as we were away when it was due for delivery. It arrived extremely well packed.

FS2004 runs like a dream and with all the settings to the right it runs constantly over 60fps with all the UK2000 scenery and WOAI UK and other AI traffic plus some of my own installed. I have since reduced this to 30fps and it does'nt move even flying over Heathrow with full traffic.

FSX runs much better than expected and is looks 3 dimensional compared to FS2004. I think the missions on FSX are very good and show the scenery at its best. I will keep adding to FSX to see how much it can take before it turns into a slide show.

For the moment I will continue to use FS2004 as the main sim.

I can recommend PCSpecialists to anyone who is considering a new PC. You may be able to get it cheaper elsewhere but the whole process from choosing the parts to delivery went well.

Regards

I'm toying witht the idea of buying another machine from them, I spent hours changing the spec on their site before choosing a system. No doubt I'll be spending many more hours again!!! And the 12 months interest free credit is faaar too dangerous!!! Never seems like real money then!
