Re: FSX Repaint Info
Well I now have SDK SP1A installed and I can now see the Texture bits I wanted....
Though I see that the SDK root still does NOT show that file all you others have ("fsxsdk.chm" file)
Ben on the FSInsider site they instructed me not to install part 2 as I have Acceleration installed
http://www.fsinsider.com/downloads/Page ... pdate.aspx
Nearly there maybe..

Re: FSX Repaint Info
Have you installed the SDK which is part of Acceleration? If not that is perhaps why you don't see the .chm file.

Re: FSX Repaint Info
I did not know there was an SDK file on there....I installed the SDK from Disc 1 on FSX.....Tako_Kichi wrote:Have you installed the SDK which is part of Acceleration? If not that is perhaps why you don't see the .chm file.
Just looked on the Acceleration disc and you are right there is an SDK.exe on ther...but it is identical to the SP1a I have just installed (160meg) so it IS installed now.....
Rather back to front but still not explaining the lack of that particular file.....
Maybe it is in SDK SP2 but I cannot put that one on as I have Acceleration Pack installed apparently.....

Re: FSX Repaint Info
Getting conflicting reports on the net re these SDK updates......some say DO NOT install SDK SP2 if you have Acceleration pack installed whilst some sources tell me that SDK SP1a is for development for Acceleration aircraft only.....
Not sure where to go on this at the moment....it would have been so easy if M$ had put a more recent SDK on disc 1 in the first place.....

Re: FSX Repaint Info
Hmmmm.....I'm not sure but I THINK they mean do not install FSX SP.2 if you have Acceleration installed and not do not install the SDK SP update....they are different animals.

Re: FSX Repaint Info
Yes it certainly is confusing......such similar names both SP2 it is just this statement that worries me
Brian
Not sure what to do...FSX SDK - SP2 Update
This update includes the changes to the FSX Software Development Kit required for those developers who have installed FSX Service Pack 2.
IMPORTANT: If you have already installed Flight Simulator X: Acceleration expansion pack, do not install the SDK Update for Service Pack 2.

Re: FSX Repaint Info
Well I think that I shall download the SDK SP2 and think about it before possibly installing tomorrow....could always do a restore point I suppose...
Back to the original question about FSX repaints. For FS9 I used Photoshop and Martin Wrights DXT.BMP program....I see it supports DDS files so will it be OK to use that or are there other tools to recommend using?
I see we have Image Tool in the SDK and NVidea do a plug in so what is the best course of action here?
Regards
Brian

Re: FSX Repaint Info
Are you sure the Accel SDK is IDENTICAL to the SP.1a you have already? You said the file size is the same but are the file creation dates the same too?
