Image information help needed

Post by Dyl Roberts »

Hi everyone,

I was given this fantastic copper image a few months ago, and was wondering if anyone here knows anything about the Chap who made it?

Further to that, does anyone know where I could get a decent valuation carried out on it for insurance puposes.

Any information would be great!

Cheers!

Sri Dyl.. I've just spent 10mins Googling and come up with a zillion references to Kew soddin gardens :brick:

Wonder if he did ships too as I have a similar plate of an old Mine Hunter I was on

It looks like it might possibly have come from this company originally....

If you click on the 'Size Chart & Prices' button below the image it opens a pop-up window with more info.

Dave the site above has several 'ship' categories but they all seem to be sailing vessels not modern Navy types.

Hi Larry

I wouldn't go as far as the ship I'm talking about being 'modern' (it's been matchsticks for years) but I see where you're coming from. I'm not at all sure if they were on general sale as they were ordered through the ship at that particular moment in time. Nice though.. I see it every time I go to my folks as I bought it for them ;-)

I realize 'modern' is a relative term but I meant there didn't appear to be any steam/oil powered vessels displayed, just sailing ships. Of course they only show one example for each category (bad marketing there IMHO) so they may well have other stuff for sale.

Agree entirely mate. Should that be the extent of their portfolio (considering their time 'in business').. one would be hard pushed to call it 'extensive'

ah, a Graham Kew etching,as Mr Tako_Kichi says, they were 'mass' produced, one of the instructors at Halton used to have a sideline selling 'em to
us smallies at @ £20.00 a go @ 1979.

A Fairey Swordfish,Westland Wessex, and Red Arrows Gnat grace the walls at my folks' place, still look good today
