The RAAF did a low fly over Sydney when they retired the 707 and caused a similar stirr having not made it well known. :doho:

Stupid !! just waiting to hear on CNN what it actually cost the tax payer. There's a few red faces somewhere I'm sure.

That entire photo -op was stupid and the FAA knew about it and did not warn anyone at the military's request. I do feel sorry for the New Yorkers - what a horrible reminder of 9/11.

One small detail - most of that $328,835 would have been spent anyway since the training excercise was already scheduled. Oh, and how does it damadge the President's credibility? It has enhanced it in my book - he did not know about it beforehand and his reaction was swift and showed his anger at the whole thing. He immediatly banned any future repeats. Your beloved "W" was probably the worst US President in the last hundred years, his entire two terms were one big gaff - but unfortunatly on the part of the US electorate!! :lol:
