BBMF Lanc Engine Change

Hi Guy's..

I'm getting info in reporting the BBMF Lanc is requiring an engine change in Amsterdam :o Anyone heard anything??

Can't imagine that they'll just be able to pop into the KLM hangar for this one!

Where do you go about getting a spare Merlin???

What's the problem?

They used to fly back from Holland with only three working engines on a regular basis didn't they? :dunno:

Yeh.. I wondered about that too :lol: Thanks for the link Brian :thumbsup:

Larry.. I think it's probably written into their SOP that if they have an engine out, they stay put. I agree they used to fly back with 3.. 2.. maybe only 1 during the dark days of WWII but with nowhere to land in Europe, they'd little option but to make it back home. With it being one of only 2 airworthy examples.. it's better to air on the side of caution these days ;-)

If they need a spare Merlin I'm sure the Dutch can dig one up from somewhere. :)

Apparently the BBMF have something like 13 Merlins spare so it's not a problem!
