For any of you who came here thinking it was going to be a juicy revelation then you can leave now!!
14 years in the job and now finally going to do it.
Have had permission from higher authority that I can accompany an officer on patrol in a mobile (well, after all I do work closely alongside them). Had been meaning to ask for permission for a long time and last month finally got round to doing it, will not be able to say what went on for obvious reasons but looking forward to experiencing first hand at the way our finest Police Officers (had to say that didn't I)? :roll: carry out their duties and deal with various incidents away from areas where I monitor.
One thing I am not really looking forward to having to put on the bullet/stab proof vest as they are quite heavy and cumbersome but it is essential piece of protection nowadays which just goes to show how society and attitudes have changed over the years towards the police, at one time only a fool would stand, argue,threaten and assault an officer but now sadly, it is a daily routine that officers have to face.

Should be an experience and I'm glad to see you are aware of the dangers and perhaps even a bit concerned. To discount the dangers would soon get you into trouble.

Yes, this is going to be an experience of a lifetime, something that members of the public would not be allowed to do, at the moment I am looking forward to it immensly but I know when the time comes to attend briefing along with other officers and then donning the protective gear I will start to become very apprehensive, more especially when the first deployment comes.
There are risks and I am fully aware of that, it will be a case of doing what the officers say and obeying immediately to lessen any chance of injury if anything kicks off. As you say, to discount the dangers would get me into trouble.

TBH If I was you I would be really excited but bricking it. It takes a special type of person to go out there and do it for the sake of the rest of us.

Try to make a partnership with the largest possible Sergeant or Constable.
I am full of admiration for people carrying out duties in the SC. I just do not know how one might persuade the young adult of today to join that force, not many priviliges and I am led to belive no pay at all - but I might be out of date on the subject of pay.
