Been on my comp since June 2005 unfinished and forgotten

XT173 was written off in Aden on 20/06/1967, it was piloted by a old mate Martin Forde who recieved a bullet in his knee (right I think) he lost control and crash landed, all 3 aboard got out alive though one lost a leg, not Martin.

Rotor blades are a bit off with clouds etc but it is a Fs 2002 model in FSX, probably never will get finished.

Martin is still around and attends annual regimental reunions he was QDG not AAC

As is screenshots not reduced to show the amount of detail, both rotors fully animated as is the rotor control linkage, doing it this way so as not to have ovesized shots loading automaticaly, sorry

Blue Eagles, very much WIP! Getting the right shades of blue isn't as easy as it looks! Plenty still to do, as I'm sure you can see.

I may have over done it with the smoke, but you get the idea...

Wow, now that makes her a great deal better Troop, I always had a soft spot for the Souix.

I flew several sorties using 'Night Sun' equipment, to learn the ropes using it when at Aldergrove about 30 years ago!!!. The AAC flew every night with the it, usually around the outer fence, we at the RAF side of SHDNI only used it when required.
Just a shame the developer did not make the pilot with a 'Bone dome' though.

I have just seen that the latest DL (version 2.1) has all three models (2 paint kits) and the GMax source code, with permission to modify the model to other variants!!!!!

Maybe we could have a true Westland Soiux version, with correct details and pilot! All we need now is a Gmax Guru with some spare time!!!!!

Many thanks! AHAF repaint for Sioux AH1 will be ready soon, though Blue Eagles et al are taking longer. I've made changes for the new v2 ARMY observation model and she now looks like this:

Image

Yes, I agree about the bone dome too! Its also a shame its not a proper Westland AH1 (47G-3B-1). On the one hand I'm resigned to it and very pleased simply to have any native FSX Bell 47. On the other hand the author provided the GMAX source for just this purpose...

Perhaps a Westland Sioux AH1 mod could make a good CBFS "project"? I know some GMAX, but wouldn't even consider undertaking such a task solo... ;-)

Anyhow, just thinkin' aloud on a cloudy day! :)

Here is the Royal Marines repaint. Look closely and you'll see where the A and Y have been painted out. She is XT176, which currently resides in the Cobham Hall of the Fleet Air Arm Museum.

Displaying her high-altitude performance...
