Just a few more shots of Cosford before the slaughter, including the Trident.
Plus one or two of my favourites including a headless Valiant! All shots taken in Jan 2006. Not sure when the cutting crew arrived but I know it was'nt too long after these were taken. I'm so glad I got there to take some memories away with me.
Thanks for looking guys.
I suffer from paranoid amnesia. I can't remember who I don't trust.
Not sure to be honest mate. When I got there I was surprised to say the least to see the aircraft in a number of pieces. I could'nt get near enough to the lads stood around it as they were fenced off in a restricted area.
British Airways had been paying for the upkeep and decided that they would no longer do so. Fair notice was given that the funding would be cut off
The Museum itself wants to concentrate on military and so the airline collection ended up as it did . The opportunity was there for anyone to come forward and save and remove the airliners but that only happened in part.
The Britannia and Comet were not part of the British Airways collection so were not affected by this, although the concentration on military has caused the Britannia to be repainted in RAF livery and the Comet is likely to be repainted sometime.

Thank you for the information garry very useful and such a shame they where not saved though they could off painted the BAC-1-11 in an RAF Experiment test livery , The public would not know I must vist RAF Cosford next year is it a good museum?
The One-Eleven was saved in tact....well it's still in pieces but all of it is at Dumfries and Galloway.....I think it is
I can't say how good the museum is as I've never been to Cosford or Duxford ans wouldn't bother with Cosford now as my interest in military aircraft is minimal
