Re: UK2000 Manchester screenshots
Non-flat runways was one of the first publicised improvements of FSX. It was dropped (along with many other features) when time got short. I'm sure the Courcheval runway with the 'ramp' works in FS9! Don't know how though. Come to think of it, it was sometimes possible to fly through it!
As for the Trident, what can I say? The fence is missing, the trees are all wrong, and the car park gravel just doesn't look right!
Oh, come on people. It's just scenery!

Too right, James! No sign either of the packet of Opal Fruits that fell out the pocket of my blazer in 1966 becos I hadn't folded it properlySl4yer wrote: the car park gravel just doesn't look right!

One thing FSX does apparently allow is a 'graduated flatten'. Has anyone applied one of these within an airport boundary, to see where the taxiways and aprons finish up, WRT elevation ?
Cheers

Bumpy / sloping runways can be made simply with a hardened mesh on top of the terrain with the runway texture applied. You would probably have to have a "standard" runway buried under the mesh to allow for correct taxi-ing etc.
The theory isn't too difficult, getting it to look and act convincingly is another matter

Re: UK2000 Manchester screenshots
As a person who has had to try and make several 'lumpy' runways and airfields flat (because that is all FSX can take), I can confirm that FSX is no different to any other MSFS.
If you see a 'humpy' runway (like the recent Fly Tampa Grenadines), they are using the background texture tiles and it will not (without great trickery, possibly ) support MS based AI or allow to you select it as a runway from the main FSX menu.
I have had hours of 'fun' trying to make Tangmere flat enough, in real life the whole station is on a gentle slope that drops about 20 metres across the airfield. I still cannot get it to look correct!

That looks stunning. The only thing missing for me is the air op's vehicles, follow me's and Police land rovers patrolling the perimeter.
I'll still be buying it without a second thought though.

Ill be getting it. Its the nearest 'local' scenery since their rendition of Liverpool was canned.
