Problems with FS9 in Win7

Post by Kevin Farnell »

Hi Chaps

I've just completed a new PC - Intel Core i7 920 (overclocked to 3,8GHz), 6Gb DDR3 RAM, Asus PT6D Delux Motherboard, Samsung Spinpoint F3 1Tb harddrive and Windows 7 Pro 64bit. Still using my old GeForce 8800GT 512Mb until I see how the new Nvidea Fermi graphics cards perform.
I've loaded up FS9 along with the FS9.1 patch and No CD.
I seem to be unable to add any addon scenery via the Scenery Library 'Add Area' facility. If I try to do this, it opens the scenery folder to show the scenery and texture folders, rather than adding the scenery. Am I doing something daft :S
Also, I'm unable to scroll through aircraft selection using the scroll wheel on the mouse (Microsoft Comfort Optical Mouse 3000).
Can anyone help?

Regards

Kevin

I think with that sort of spec, you deserve all the problems you can handle Kevin

I'm sure something similar has been posted here before mate.. specifically to do with Win7 but I can't find the thread 8) Is it one of these things you have to run in compatibility mode *-) Grief.. I wish I could remember :wall: Hopefully, Ben will know as I'm sure he has both sims installed in Win7 :)

In Win 7 after selecting the folder, left click the mouse in a white space in the explorer window that opens to select the scenery ;)

Cheers Ben, seems an odd fix, but it works.

Having recently upgraded to a P5 E8400, I was already aware it was out-of-date when I spent the money so I guess that's some consolation  Glad Ben got you sorted.. he's a good lad is our Ben ;)

Think its something to do with a change in the explorer API in Win7 where left click was to select a folder. Its a bit strange, but easy when you get used to it :)

Thank goodness for XP and FS9 two things that you can be sure of in life, bit like taxes, nurses and death really.... ;)

Once you have selected your scenery to load, click on OK, you will then see the scenery and texture files. Click on the white area below the files and it will be loaded into FS9. It'a a bug.
