Hi mate, I agree in that shot it looks like a curve, but its the angle of the pic. Anyway, as I said, I'm greatful that someone took the time to do all of the variations. I remember when I was a kid in the late 70's and early 80's seeing pics of the variou developments of the AEW and thinking god its ugly, but its ours and none of that imported sh1t3 Alas it was not to be, but I've always had a soft spot for her and think you've got the nose shapes, including the AEW which must be a bugger, pretty well on the mark.

There is a distinctive curve, Many an hour I have spent under 7 Tank and its associated dry bay on my knees looking up at this area, and having slid off the top also its wasn't a straight glide, also you cannot compare the Comet with the Nimrod as the Engine Nacelles were completely rebuilt.

lol.... yep I know they are different mate, but there are a fair few pics on a.net that look straight (albeit angled) to me. But as I said, just my opinion.
I can't post the screenshot here as it's off dual monitors and would be far too big. The UKMIL R1 will be obvious and the beta MR2 will be equally obvious (for those who are looking just to be curious.. the beta has no internals on the flightdeck) Note also that one is an R1 and t'other is an MR2 if you go looking for 'like for like' phots which I hope you will. Google Nimrod R1 if you like and pick the phot's. Like all things Google.. some shots are obviously NOT R1's but there's enough of a cross section there
Yes it is mine and yes I do intend to finish it. As Rick says I've been somewhat distracted by events for a while now but with things getting back to normal I'll be picking up the keyboard again.
Tornado Wingsweep was NOT automatic, but a manual system
this is not strickly true, there were varients of the Tornado in which the wingsweep WAS automatic and i wa definitly stood a lot closer than the fence for a lot of years
and i quote

implemented to ensure optimum settings
throughout the flight envelope while
reducing pilot workload. Four sweep positions
are provided—25° up to Mach 0.73,
