Avast 5.0

While surfing the web, I noticed that a new version of Avast is available from http://www.avast.com/security-software-home-office
Scroll down and look for the free version on the left hand side. I Installed it a week ago and so far it works like a charm. The interface has been improved by leaps and bounds and there are quite a few new features.

I initially had a problem with the scan page - the buttons to start a scan were not showing up. I uninstalled, cleaned up the registry (CCleaner) and then reinstalled, and all was well. From reading the forums, it looks like the old 4.8 version should be uninstalled first. This message outlines one method: http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=56983.0

I did not do that and that is probably why I had to install version 5 twice.

I don't know if the new Version 5 will apear in the automatic updates - I imagine they can't update millions and millions of users all at once so that is why I thought I would post this in case you want to update manually.
