Yes they did go to Monarch

Invicta were forced into buying 'newer' jets that were older than their Vanguards and it helped bring on their demise.

Yep, they didn't go to Monarch directly after leaving Invicta.. just about all points inbetween BB was rarely used by Invicta spending the majority of it's time on lease and in reality, BA was only used for a short time.. last op with them being Oct 75. After that, it went to Templewood, sub-leased to Air Niugini, back to Luton in storage and finally to Monarch in 77.

Dave - I stand corrected - that bit of Luton history was after I left to go to Gatwick - when I left Monarch was still flying Britannias only - when next I showed up in the early 80s they were operating the 720s along with other odds and sods.....I remember Dave Campbell who was a captain for OM on the 720 that it was one of the few aircraft that was not crippled by Luton's Noise abatement procedures as it was usually already climbing through 1500 foot by the time it crossed the Vauxhall end of the runway. Invicta was sadly on the way out when I left to go to IAS.

By the way Eric keep em coming they are a wonderful thing to see.

Pure coincidence mate . I happened to be researching/reading 'Take-off to touchdown'.. the Invicta Story and had reached 1975 The beginning of the chapter for 76 shows Invicta to be down to Brits and the long serving Aztec and it took some too'ing and fro'ing to find out what had happened to the Boeings. As a last resort, I went to the 'Fleet' section which gives details and histories of every aircraft Invicta operated and this clearly shows what happened to both BA and BB Monarch were (I believe) already operating 707's with good returns even though they were higher density fit and Invicta often did charters on behalf of Monarch during their main year of operations.
