Star of India *10 pics*

Post by FlyTexas »

While in San Diego California on Tuesday I had the pleasure of visiting the 'Maritime Museum of San Diego' and going onboard the merchant sailing ship 'Star of India'. She was built in 1863 at the Ramsey Shipyard on the Isle of Man. A real beauty she measures 280’ in length, 35' beam, maximum draft 21.5’, and a gross tonnage of 1318. Museum volunteers sail her once a year. :)

Lovely shots, we seem to set fire to the ones we have over here, mind you I was wondering what you were doing in a rather fine Indian Eatery in Largs......

Boy, they have cleaned her up a bit since I lived in SAN seven years ago -- marvellous sight driving to work every morning at Lindbergh. BTW Mate there is a dynamite resturant called "Shakespeare's" on the North side of the airport that has a roof garden with a marvellous view of the approach to SAN. Also there is
probably IMHO the best model railway museum at Balbao Park.

Thanks for sharing the photos --- did you do the Midway as well?
