Nvidia 8800GT Just went bang!

Post by DogTailRed2 »

Hi,

my 8800 GT graphics card just blew. Was thinking of a straight replacement but can't find one for sale (seen lots of 8800GT's but none look like the one I have so weary of cheap copies or imports).
Anyone suggest a worthy Nvidia upgrade?

Thanks,

Dog.

Try the 9800GT, I swapped out my ATi 4850 for this one I got cheap in Best Buy for just under $100 which should translate to about 60 pounds ( don't know the ASCii for the pound sign :-)
I always was an ATi man but have mended my ways, this Nvidea rocks.

I went for the GTS250 1meg which I believe is a re-badged 9800 anyway.
Works great anyway.

Funny enough my 9800GTX, that is basically a tweaked 8800 went pop not long ago.
Replaced it with a HD5870, fantastic card.

Interestingly with the new card I can run DX10 and most sliders high or maxed.
I'm getting 40fps over Duxford. Old card was 15-25fps and most slides middle or lower. DX10 caused problems.
If I adjust screen size I can get 70fps.
This is on Win7 64bit and gig RAM.
