Nimrod paint schemes

Post by Brian Franklin »

Hi guys,

I'm finalising the list of schemes and models which I will using for the forthcoming FSX Nimrod model. Although I will not be producing a paint kit obviously people are welcome to mod as they see fit. Hopefully the list though not exhaustive I think it covers most incarnations of the Nimrod. If anyone has any specific requests for additions to the list I will consider them.

The links below show each model/scheme

Personally, I'll be delighted with the selection you've already painted up, so don't consider these 'requests' as such, but more ideas for if you want to add a few extra ones.

XV226 in grey 40th anniversary scheme (currently at Bruntingthorpe)

R1, hemp with large roundels:
Hi-viz

Low-viz

MR2, hemp with large roundels:
Hi-viz
http://www.airliners.net/photo/UK---Air ... 1192826/L/
Low-viz

Also, the fin flash on the hemp MR1 looks to be a tad on the small side. If you've gone off a reference picture which shows a smaller flash then by all means, ignore me!

Actually Adam you've brought up a good point, I'd completely omitted the pre-Falklands MR2 from the range. Will rectify that

Also, on a slightly unrelated note, is it possible in FS to angle the engine smoke out slightly? I can't remember this being done with any of the FS9 Nimrods, and I've always wanted it to look right, given the fact that the exhausts don't actually line up with the fuselage. Perhaps you've done it already!

I understand that asking for extra models at this late date might be a bit untoward but is there any possibility of one with a few optional extras

We used to have some Zaps and Flying Suit badge of a Nimrod sporting 2 Sidewinders with the caption

"Largest Fighter Plane in the World".

(Wish I'd stumped up the cash and bought some now!!)
