Newcastle International Airport's 75th AnniversaryYou are invited to celebrate Newcastle International Airport's 75th Anniversary on Monday 26th July 2010
Newcastle Airport and business partners have created a very special itinerary for the anniversary day.
The public can watch all of the activity from a dedicated viewing area which will be open from 10am at Samson Aviation.
We recommend viewing from 10.30am - 1.30pm to ensure the main highlights of the day are not missed!
These include:
Time Event
10.30am British Airways Hot Air Balloon tethered on the grass area adjacent the freight village
10.35am Arrival of a KLM B737 donning the original colour scheme from the 1960’s
11.10am Arrival of British Airways 747
12.00pm Arrival of a De Havilland Dragon Rapide to commemorate the exact time the airfield opened in 1935
12.05pm Arrival of an Emirates B777
12.15pm BA 747 departs
1.05pm KLM B737 departs
1.35pm Emirates B777 departs
2.00pm Pleasure flights on the Dragon Rapide commence with invited guests
Public car parking is provided from 8am and the airfield will return to normal operations from 4pm.

The BA 747 is a LHR commercial flight and think I read somewhere about £30 for a ticket??
I suppose since BA don't have a Concorde to fly a display...a tethered Hot Air Balloon has to substitute
