Still around!!

Post by Nigel H-J »

Hi Gang, sorry for such a loooong absence but have been off sick for 2 months with no access to the internet. As you know I came off the net some time ago with no immediate plans to re-connect so the only way I can do so is when at work but only when time permits. Now I have returned to work I will be able to keep popping in from time to time when I am able to and no one is looking!!! :worried:

I had not said anything before but had been told months ago by my comsultant that I have a bulge and blood flow problems with me ticker, thankfully all tests have now been done on it gawd....talk about putting you through it :worried:
3 seperate cardiograms then stress tests, got to 122 beats a minute then were going for gold to 155 when it happened .....blood pressure went down below 40 heart went out of control and getting very breathless :-O Now I know what it is like to suffer a near cardiac arrest!! :-O number of drugs pumped into me for a quick reversal of drug being used to increase heart rate then tipped backwards on the trolley to get the blood flowing back to the grey matter!! A month later followed a catheter inserted to view the heart. Thankfully all tests have been completed and no operation required, just more drugs ordered  Now getting back into the swing of things but slowly at the mo.

Don't worry, I'll keep popping in from time to time to make sure that you are all behaving yourselves.

Regards
Nigel.

Sure hope you get fully fit soon :)

Wow, you certainly have been through a lot, #1. Good to hear from you and hope you have a very fast and full recovery. While I think we have a few Nigels to spare, there is no substitute for #1

It must be said, it is hard being #² when #1 is not around. :S

Lovely to hear from you mate. :)

Hope your recovery is peaceful and speedy.

Remember that regular check ups usually mean a good opportunity to speak to pretty nurses..always a bonus!

All the best

Many thanks for your kind messages, very much appreciated.

Dave, hope Marty is OK, long time since I spoke to him. TBH the result of the tests were a tonic on their own as the doctors had said I may have to have open heart surgery (that was before the tests were all completed) nothing like jumping the gun is there!! :-O   Trouble now is that I tend to rattle a bit more than I used to with all these pills!!

All I can say is that the doctors and nurses in Cardiac were bl**dy marvellous and made me feel at ease throughout all the tests, bless 'em all.

Really good to be able to catch up on what I have been missing now that I am back at work and great to be back with you guys.

Kind regards
Nigel.

Ah yes Nigel, the "bulge". The doctor's found that I had one during an MRI for something else that turned out not to be a problem - my wife reckons that once a doctor gets a man into the surgery, all tests are an option since he hasn't been in before nor likely to again for a long while.

You go in for one thing and they find another! Scared the sh*t out of me when they told me the possibilities. Open-heart surgery was the better option if things got worse. But two years later with annual ultrasound scans the bulge (aneurism) has not grown so it's likely to have been there a while and should not be a future problem. At least I did not have to have the catheter and stress tests which must have been uncomfortable.

The plus side for me is that they know it's there and monitor regularly. If it gets worse they can take action which is better than it bursting and basically bleeding out :'( . Together with the annual blood tests it is all a bit like an MoT

Like me, I imagine that you are thankful they found the problem and can keep an eye on it. At least you can now get on with your life again so keep smiling.

Best wishes

Ian

Hi Ian, sorry to hear that you also have 'one' and can only imagine how you felt when they ran through the options well, one option that is!!!! :-O Problem is that when they mention 'open heart surgery' it brings on the 'fear of god' in you. To the surgeons it is just routine, something they do 3 or 4 times a week but to the patient, it is completely different, a fear of what they will have to face, the only way I can describe it really but like you and being honest, it also scared the sh*t out of me.

Really pleased to hear that it has not grown and hope that you continue trouble free for many years to come.

Kind regards
Nigel.
