FCS Discover Great Britain

Post by Myles »

Hi All,

Just saw a review of this on Avsim. It appears to include an Auster J1 Autocrat and is for FS9 and FSX.

I know nothing about the product, but was wondering where the Auster came from as the only ones I am aware of are from Daves M and G which are both freeware. One of the liveries included appears to be EI-AUM which was in Dave Garwood's, but the review doesn't sound like it could be his.

Hopefully I'm just being overly suspicious and it has been developped independantly, but perhaps someone can shed light and put at least this mind to rest *-) I certainly don't feel inspired to pay for the product just to check!

Beat,
Myles

Not guilty mi 'lud :) Definitely not from my ever-growing workshop. There's a strange mix of very accurate detailing and poor guesswork. A common problem when modelling Austers is that very few are still in their ex-works state, so maybe some of the 'wrong' bits are right on the example their's is modelled from.
Just glad I don't run FSX otherwise I'd be really annoyed about paying good money for a cockpit with blacked out windows( might be the reviewers problem ?) in the VC 'cos
that's how I fly 'em nowadays.
BTW - still pushing ahead to make all the Austers - warts an all :-O . There's always one who asks 'when are you going to offer my favourite Auster'
Cheers

Oh yes Austers..........they fall into two groups

A field full of different aircraft with the same designation or a field full of identical machines of different types

Or so it seems :S

As you say.so many have had mods upon mods over the years

Looks like the review has disappeared from the Avsim homepage.

It's still there somewhere AD as I've just read it from the other thread (FSX - Auster) :)
The reviewer was 'less than happy' ;)

I can see why the reviewer wasn't happy with the aircraft.

Well he did like the uninstall feature. He put it second in his list of the things he liked about 'Discover Great Britain'.

Yes Brian  Interesting that the first thing on the list was the good install routine and the second.. how well the uninstaller removed everything

Not often you see a report like that. More often than not, you have to read into what has NOT been said :cpu:
