I've never felt so frustrated....... died so frequently/spectacularly/or needlessly....... yet had so much fun, in a long time.

Thanks for the HU Paul

Pity it's not on the TV as I never watch radio

It was a film back in the early fifties, I think just before the Comet incidents *-)

I listened to episode 1 with interest. It's a little bit twee, and the very end of the episode misses one of the best bits of the book where the boffin Honey says "If you won't ground this aeroplane , I WILL" and does so by pulling the undercarriage up , but it's fairly faithful to the book , and good to find that Shute's rather prescient work ( predating the Comet fatigue failures by about 6 years ) is not forgotten

Don't think I'll listen but I remember the film of the book.I seem to recall the the main character of Theodore Honey was played by James Stewart or was it Michael Redgrave? Anyway, what I do recall is that this was the first full novel that I ever read.I bought it whilst on holiday in Newquay in 1968!I subsequently read several of Neville Shute's books. He was a master story teller. :) EricT
