Re: There's the "Close Call" .....
Hate to say it, but this is why I like US whistle rules. The train didn't even blow his horn (despite having clear vision of this guy being close to the tracks) until he was almost on top of him. Had that been seen by the FRA here in the states, the engineer would have been hunted down and given a very expensive personal violation for failure to provide proper warning. I don't remove this idiot of responsibility for being so close to the foul of the track, but at the same time, the engineer should be paying enough attention to give a few quick blasts of the horn BEFORE he's on top of the guy because the guy's standing on a level crossing, not the middle of nowhere.

I thought the driver was a little late in tooting the old horn too Chris. Granted.. the idiot disappeared in a cloud of steam making him difficult to see but he didn't move as far as I could make out from the clip so was already too darned close to the track before the steam train passed.. and in clear view

I think part of the problem in this case is that the station is probably unmanned with nobody to stop these idiots behaving stupidly. I've seen kids kick footballs onto the track and climb down and get them with trains due any minute.
