Goodness, that is an amazing escape. However, I wonder what caused the total electical failure? in the video you can see the clamshell reversers open, so that would imply the engines were operational unless they open independantly of engine power? Surely if the engines were operational there should have been at least one generator working?

Whatever the reason, it took some guts to land a plane on what looks like a patch of scrubland with a hidden patio in the middle, and walk away from it!

Not necessarily, although the engines turn the generators (directly or indirectly, not sure how the Tu 154 works) this doesn't mean the generators are actually providing power or that there wasn't a failure of the electrical distribution system that prevented the power getting to where it was needed. Or a combination of both.

Reading other articles about this (some or all could be completely full of of course) - no electrics, only stand-by instruments, only centre fuel pump/tanks available and potentially (looking at the pictures), no flaps. Seems this is quite a piece of airmanship
