Around the world in FS

I'm thinking of doing a RTW trip ( and have been since FS98 ). Aircraft of choice is the Aerosoft Catalina which, though slow, would enable me to land just about anywhere. If not the Cat then the CS Boeing 727 freighter, and get it done a bit quicker.

The FSX Rapide might just what I am looking for.

Reasonable range of 920 km and with a long range installed, even larger range for the Atlantic crossings.

I will probably start/finish in the UK.

AD may find the headwinds might not be such a problem going on a westerly route if his altitude is low. I was pleasantly surprised at how nice things were at 5-8k in the Dove Another advantage of going west is that you're not constantly losing time through zone changes though it's probably true to say that doing the trip in an Auster, he'd be too slow to make use of that advantage

AD.. the route Larry suggested is the way I usually go but west rather than east

I've done it in a Bonanza, C421, Comet IV, VC-10 and now I'm in Cairns with an MD-11 for my VA. It's good fun and gets you flying in some different places, especially if you pick up the relevant scenery

I have chosen the De Havilland Rapide for the aircraft to fly around the world. How would I add a long range tank into the aircraft.cfg?

What I do is to add a 40 gallon tank in the position of the rear seats to simulate having a drum of petrol on the back.

That last line is my addition and is untried...I think it will result in that 40 gallon drum being emptied first and it will not show on the fuel gauges so they will continue to show full until the drum is empty. Please try it to make sure and you may find a slight trim change as that fuel is used up. The CentreAux tank (drum) will show up when you go Aircraft > Weight and Balance > change fuel.
