I don't think I can remember a time in recent history when the Vulcan wasn't under threat 8)

If they do get more funds I might just restart this thread again ready for next year. 8)

Seriously..'since it''s flying days are limited why not fly it for a season every three years and extend the time period *-)

Ah, but Dave's implication is that the Vulcan has always been under threat. The use of 'again' would only be appropriate if there had been more than one continuous period of uncertainty.

What we need is a PFI thingy to get it back out and bombing stuff!

That's my point really. For a good many years.. and I go back to before the Falklands War.. the Vulcans days were numbered. To be honest, you can go back to the period when the RAF lost the nuclear deterant to the RN and how long ago was that! 558 ended up on the display cct which was never going to last forever.. I think it was quoted that the cost of it's upkeep exceeded that of the entire BBMF and then some. The rest as they say, is history :cpu:

Think of 'threat' in another way and that's what the Vulcan was built to deal with so why should it change

:)

Along with getting XL426 to fast taxiing again and we can at least still one moving and making noise longer after XH558 is grounded.

Often forgotten.........XL426 was once the RAF display Vulcan.

After a while, the cost of needed maintenance cause them to swap it for XH558.

I think it been active a few years now but maybe not so much recently *-)
