Ok, here is a one question quizz. No prizes for the correct answer, except a virtual pint or two. Oh, if your ever in Herndon, I will spring for the real thing - well as close as one can get to that in the colonies.
Today is the anniversary of what event in British aviation history?
Congratulations, yes it is! That took all of 7 minutes. Well done!
John, I see your from Bedford. The last place I lived in the UK was Bedford - my father worked at the Aircraft Research Association's wind tunnel on Mantern Lane (if memory serves regarding the address.) I have visited Bedford twice in recent years with my daughter and then with my sisters. I was surprised that the farmer's market was still there smack in the middle of town. Traffic was far worse than when i lived there, but I still remembered my way around and found short cuts to get around most of it on a visit to our old house on Poplar Avenue.
It was quite by chance that I was looking at some books with my two grandsons the other day that I remember the date. They are 5 and 7 and one likes the Spitfire and the other likes the Hurricane.
We moved to the area a year ago, actually to Cardington. I'm not aware of the places you mentioned but will have a look next time I go into Bedford.
Regards
John
I have the mind of an athlete, but the body of a spectator.
I sort of guessed you lived in Cardington by your airship shed tag. We could see the "balloons" in the distance from where we used to live, although I did not see any when we visited a few years back. Those "balloons"may have been airships but they looked more like barrage balloons from where we were located. The market I mentioned is right by St. Pauls near the River Ouse on High Street.
