Well I tried yet again using the suggestion of creating another Windows admin account. Unfortunately, this did not work at all.

Have you searched the registry and removed all FSX lines?

When I eventually uninstalled FSX some years ago, I used PC Tools Registry Mechanic to clean up afterwards...I was amazed at how much FSX Junk it removed...Hundreds of bits!

You said you used Crap cleaner, but did you use the registry cleaner that comes with that?? *-)

As peter says a lotis left behind which is why I was saying to use the cleaner and defrag to be sure.

May I suggest reading this set of uninstall instructions http://forums.flightsim.com/vbfs/showth ... -Uninstall

and then using the reset tool found on the MS web site here http://support.microsoft.com/kb/960481
scroll down a little

this should take you right to the tool
http://download.microsoft.com/download/ ... 928080.exe

sorry to hear your having these problems. I just finished installing FSX on a computer for a neighbor on his new laptop.
and in fact had to fix the laptop because his son installed nero lite which would not uninstall and another crap software program
for the sake of making a copy of a DVD movie.... Unbelievable really  all that work for not wanting to spend 10 or fifteen bucks

It's a long story I will not go through but I warned him after I got it all fixed . IF your son installs any half wit program to steal something again don't even look out your window to think of asking me to help ( which he did not offer to pay me , yet when I was in the heat of the battle with this thing he made a comment maybe he should take it to a computer place and PAY some one to fix it) [heavy sigh , no good deed goes unpunished]

anyways go through the instructions of removing all the bits that are left in your PC and then It Will reinstall. there is no magical power keeping it from
happening , it's just corrupt and needs to be done manually, and what ever you do don't get discouraged mate, just go one step at a time. You can do it
