Nice hawk paints

As I've mentioned, I just joined the airfix club (always considered it for youngsters in the past, but it does have it's advantages for everyone - like a 10% rebate on all orders).

I've found there are a number of very interesting kits on sale these days, from a Brit point of view.

I mentioned the excellent new member's Harrier GR.7 & FA2 kit elsewhere, but today I received another two gems. The one that might be of interest here is the Hawk model that can be built as either the 2010 charity display scheme or the 19sqn anniversary scheme:



I got that along with a 1:48 Canberra B(I)8 - which I'm sure my limited skills will never do justice to, but I will certainly enjoy building it.

I'll do the 16sqn 'Saints' version - one of my worst experiences as a teenage planespotter was seeing two of these on the fire practice 'dump' at Gütersloh. That is the main reason I opted for this model.

I intend joining the Airfix club at the start of the new year. I rather fancy the combination of the (not very British) Sabre and Mig15 club kit. I've already got a Harrier FRS1 in the stash.

As a European resident membership costs a bit more and you only get the option of downloadable catalogue and magazine. Still looks good value though.

Ah, didn't realise it was more for the download version outside the UK - that may be due to the delivery costs of the membership pack.

I am a 'download' member, too - I have enough magazines laying around the place and stacked in boxes already! I also have subscribed to the new Airfix Modellers magazine, which has some fantastic kits on display in it (not just Airfix ones, either) and some good tutorials from the experts.

At the risk of displaying my lack of competence in this hobby - I've had this one for years:



It needs a new pitot tube on the nose, though - of course, the longer they are around, the more bits tend to get broken. My model motorbike collection that I built about 10-11 years ago is all in pieces now.
