Very sad news indeed... I so remember listening to his "I counted them all out" during the Falklands as a youth!
RIP Brian...

I missed the Falklands war almost completely. I was asked if I was prepared to sail into a war zone, and replied with an emphatic 'yes' but in the end I flew out to Japan. The AFN radio station on Okinawa kept us informed of events, but I didn't 'live it' the way people did back in the UK, and saw none of the British news reports.
Rest in peace, Mr Hanrahan.

Very sad news indeed. R.I.P.

My condolences to his family and friends. BBC World News America had a nice tribute to Brian last night including the clip of the Harrier count during the Falklands war.

My thoughts go out to his family.
The Harrier clip is what he will be best remembered for
BBC linked that into their report

I did my bit for him. He was on my aircraft once flying back from a war zone (can't remember where) and he was sitting in economy looking very tired and shell-shocked and unhappy. 'Would you like to come with me, Mr Hanrahan?" says I, with a surreptitious wink.
I had a nice comfy first class seat and a visit to the flight deck waiting for him. He promised me a tour of the BBC Television Centre in return but I never followed it up. A gentleman.
