Eagle Airline

Post by Nigel H-J »

Another site I found that may be of interest of a once Great British Airline especially the flight reports written out by the Captain for the passengers

I worked for Cunard Eagle at Heathrow in 1961. It was probably the worst job I ever had. Being ex RAF airframes, I wasn't made welcome by the old hands and they refused to help in any way. They had a thing about us being on "skilled" wages. Needless to say, I only stayed for about 3 months. There was another chap working there who had been on the same squadron as me, and he left also.

That experience actually made me change my career path, and I never did paid work on aircraft again. Unpaid? That's another story.

That's a sad story Dennis though not untypical if even a small percentage of the stories I hear at Brooklands are true (and I've no reason to disbelieve any of them). Well defined lines of demarcation and a culture of 'Us and Them'.. not only between airlines but within airlines 8)

From what Dernnis and Dave have written obviously not such a Great British Airline after all.......to work with that is.

As Garry also wrote it happens in all industries as I have found out myself during my working days in haulage. :'(

Nigel.
